The past six weeks have included a lot of belly growth. I've continued to feel well overall and really can't complain. No Gestational Diabetes, no high blood pressure or swelling, normal weight gain, etc. I did experience some discomfort with itchy skin for a few weeks around the time I went to Jamaica and it seems to only be prevalent now when the temperatures get really cold. So the temps in the single digits this week have not been ideal! Keeping my skin from drying out has helped and so has staying away from wool and fleece.
As my belly has grown, so have the discomforts associated with it. Bending down to tie my shoes, walking through narrow passages, sitting on the couch in the evening, sitting at my desk during the day, and sleeping have become more challenging, especially in the past 2-3 weeks. But it is amazing to think that our daughter will be here very soon. Her body is formed and most of her organs are fully developed. In just a couple more weeks she will be full term (now defined as 37 weeks).
She continues to be a mover and shares with me just how strong she's becoming. I always thought that feeling a baby move in my belly would feel strange, but now that I'm experiencing it, I'm amazed and excited every time she does. I constantly wonder what part of her body I'm touching in response to her movements. At 34 weeks, she's estimated to be the size of cantaloupe and weighs between 4.5-5 pounds.
Here is a photo recap of the past 6 weeks...
