Triangle Restaurant Week - Flights

A few weeks ago we were able to take advantage of restaurant week in the Triangle. While there are a bunch of great restaurants we've been wanting to try, the only time we could really make it work for our schedule was a fairly quick lunch in North Raleigh.

I was lucky to have a meeting scheduled near Colin's office, so we took advantage of the $15 lunch menu at Flights, the restaurant in the Renaissance at North Hills.  In our typical fashion, Colin and I split the meals - except I opted not to try the raw tuna. The food was very good, with nice presentation.  I'm not a huge fan of hotel restaurants in general and wasn't a huge fan of the location of the restaurant in the hotel.  Our window view was of the parking lot and the highway.

The only disappointing part of the meal was the white, sticky and soggy "Steamed Asian Bun" that supported by BBQ sandwich.

Smoked Tomato Bisque with Grilled Bread and Basil Oil

Frisee Salad with Blood Orange Supremes, Compressed Watermelon, Radish, Marcona Almonds, and Roasted Shallot Dressing

Tuna Niciose with Haricot Verts, Red Bliss Potatoes, Tomatoes, Niciose Olives, Egg, and Dijon Vinaigrette

Asian BBQ Pork Sandwich, Steamed Asian Bun, Spicy Chow Chow, Cilantro, and Sweet Potato Fries

Chocolate Profiteroles with Hazelnut Ice Cream and Chocolate Sauce

Blueberry Crepes with Lavender Whipped Cream and Wildflower Honey

While the meal was good, it was certainly not memorable and I doubt we will go back.
